Bulgarian Government Precariously Perched atop a Mountain of Bitcoins

A Sustained crackdown on organised crime nets more than 200,000 Bitcoins – valued more than $3.13 billion USD at today’s prices (26th December 2017)

Consequent to an investigation into a purported Customs scam, Bulgarian authorities have taken in to custody 23 nationals and seized Bitcoins valued more than $3 billion USD. Bitcoin and other crypto currencies are increasingly becoming the currency of choice for criminals, taking advantage of the lack of sufficient legislative and legal frameworks that govern and regulate the use, buying/selling and tracking of the crypto currency economy,

The Bulgarian government has refused to divulge further details, alluding to the criminal investigation that is still underway.
