CentOS 7 Now Available

March 31, 2015, the CentOS Project announced the general availability of CentOS Linux 7 (1503), which is compatible with 64-bit x86 machines. This marks the second release for CentOS 7. The release includes a number of new features and enhancements including the following items:

  • A major update to IPA (Identity, Policy, Audit), which adds support for two-factor authentication
  • An automatic bug reporting tool (ABRT)which reports bugs directly to bugs.centos.org
  • Full support for OpenJDK-1.8.0
  • A new package for Mozilla Thunderbird
  • Improved container support
  • Support for new processors (Intel Broadwell) and graphics (AMD Hawaii)
