Intel® Xeon® Processor E5-2620 v3 Released

Last September 8, 2014, Intel launched version 3 of its Xeon Processor E5-2600 CPU family. Intel markets this updated line with emphasis on helping build agile data centers that allow plenty of automation and orchestration at low total cost of ownership.

Of particular interest is model E5-2620, which supports faster and lower-powered DDR4 memory of up to 1866MHz. This Xeon Processor carries Intel’s signature Haswell microarchitecture with the Haswell-EP core. It has the following specifications:

  • 64-bit data width
  • 6 cores, 12 threads
  • 15MB cache
  • 2.4 GHz clock speed (can reach up to 3.2 GHz turbo frequency)
  • Bus speed of 8 GT/s QPI (4000Mhz), 5 GT/s DMI
  • 85W maximum thermal design power
  • 0.65V-1.30V VID voltage range
  • 4 memory channels, 59 GB/s maximum memory bandwidth

This product also ships as an embedded microprocessor. It has the following security features: Intel Secure Key, vPro technology, and OS Guard.
