Intel® Xeon® Processor E7 v3 Product Families Launched

May 5, 2015 — Intel launched the third major version of its Xeon E7 microprocessors for enterprise and mission-critical apps. In total, Intel released 12 different models, which all carries the Haswell microarchitecture that now also supports TSX and AVX2 instructions. TSX optimizes memory lock operations in multi-thread apps, while AVX2 doubles the execution rate of basic operations. Product enhancements also include up to 20% more cores, larger last-level cache, and support for DDR4 memory with configurations of up to 32 sockets.

Key in the launch is emphasis on the mission-critical features of the new processors. These features are delivered by Intel’s Run Sure Technology, which now includes Enhanced Machine Check Architecture Recovery, Address Range Memory Mirroring, DIMM rank sparing, and DDR4 memory recovery. Several security features are also in places, such as Trusted Execution technology, OS Guard, BIOS Guard, and Secure Key.

The price for Xeon processor E7 v3 family will range from $1,224 to $7,175 in quantities of 1,000.
