Speaking of launches, Intel just released its updated line of Xeon E7 processors while Ubuntu also did a big release with version 15.04, which now carries the much-talked-about ‘systemd.’

6TB in 2.5-Inch SSD to be Available by July

Japanese manufacturer Fixstars will make available to the market a six-terabyte SSD in 2.5-inch format in July this year. This SSD will have read speeds of up to 540 MB/s and write speeds of up to 520MB/s.

To give a better idea of its capacity, Fixstars give the following estimations of how much high-quality videos it can contain:

  • 4K uncompressed at 60fps – 2 hours
  • 4K H.265/HEVC (broadcast quality) at 60fps – 380 hours
  • Full HD H.264 (broadcast quality) at 29.9fps – 888 hours

Intel Xeon Processor E7 v3 Product Families Launched

May 5, 2015 — Intel launched the third major version of its Xeon E7 microprocessors for enterprise and mission-critical apps. In total, Intel released 12 different models, which all carries the Haswell microarchitecture that now also supports TSX and AVX2 instructions.

Product enhancements also include up to 20% more cores, larger last-level cache, and support for DDR4 memory with configurations of up to 32 sockets.

Ubuntu 15.04 Released

April 23, 2015, ‘Vivid Vervet’ or Ubuntu 15.04 was released. This latest Linux distribution of Ubuntu contains revamped menus, desktop improvements, a new version of LibreOffice, and some developer features. The most notable change is that it carries the systemd system and service manager.
